In the early stage it’s very important to lay a solid foundation in playing technique. The practice pieces are chosen with that in mind, and lessons often focus there. Although we always take everyone’s musical taste into account as much as possible, it can mean practising something at the level of a nursery rhyme for a little while.
As you grow familiar with the instrument, we shift the focus more and more to the music itself, and you develop the technical skills you need to play your favourite music.
